Biography

Rachael was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She was first handed a camera at the age of six, where she began exploring the world through her viewfinder. After graduating from high school, she continued her photography journey at the University of Colorado Denver and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography. Rachael’s practice focuses on digital photography, although she is highly proficient in analog photo practices including shooting, developing, scanning, and printing color and black & white film in the darkroom.

Partnered with her interest in photography, Rachael has simultaneously worked for the City and County of Denver as a Public Safety Cadet, interning with Denver Police and Fire. During her time in the program, Rachael gained a greater appreciation for all sides of public safety. This dual interest has allowed her to photograph a world that many will never see. Her unique experience inspires her thesis work, Humanizing the Badge, which was exhibited at RedLine Contemporary Art Center in 2023.
