Humanizing The Badge
More than 1,000 members of Denver Police and Denver Fire were once Public Safety Cadets. After four years of working around Denver Police Department, my understanding of policing has flourished. During this time, I have gained insight into the lives of the people in law enforcement, and the people who make me feel safe. The relationships that have influenced me the most are those involved in Denver Police Department.
When the public sees a law enforcement uniform, they typically respond in one of two ways—with admiration or fear. Some see the officer before them as heroes, while others have a different opinion. Those donning the uniform are more than their job; they are also parents, friends, and sons/daughters. For some, it is hard to differentiate the job from the person. Humanizing the Badge serves as a reminder that officers are members of our society. This tribute honors their individual stories both in and out of uniform.
